Maintenance windows are typically scheduled 48 hours in advance of an event that may affect customers. Our engineers route traffic away from the maintenance location after business hours the night before. Maintenance is done during business hours to insure work is completed and tested in a timely. Once the changes are verified, later after business hours, traffic is allowed to flow automatically via the most efficient route. As a result, our process insures high standards of network uptime are met with little or no customer effect. Maintenance that has any risk of customer effect will be scheduled after business hours except in emergencies.
